David Thornton has been playing music on stage since he was 15 years old. At 17 he had his first stage musical recorded and broadcast on BBC Radio Sheffield, and went on to write three further shows whilst he studied at the National School for Performing Arts in the 1980’s.

He worked as an actor in a touring theatre company before joining the entertainments team at Alton Towers, and then moving into Marketing and Event Management.

He returned to performing live in 2012 and in the last few years has played at festivals including Bakewell Folk Festival, Derbyshire Food and Drink Fair, and Guildford Music Festival as well as appearing on the main stage during Cowes Week, at the Heights of Abraham, Cromford Mills World Heritage Site, and in the Bestival woodland at Robin Hill.

He has recorded two albums of music: “Under the Covers” and “The Ship of Ghosts”, the latter containing twelve original songs. He is currently writing songs for a new album to be released in early 2024.

David enjoys performing in clubs and pubs with a selection of popular songs, and occasionally produces shows in independent venues and theatres with his own original material..
